Our History

From a one-man shop to a trusted electrical contractor serving Western Wisconsin for more than 35 years.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

In 1991, when Uniroyal announced it would be closing its doors at the Eau Claire plant, Tom Larson saw an opportunity. With $600, a little red Chevette, and a determination to make it work, he founded Bear Valley Electric from his farm near Colfax, Wisconsin, naming the company after the country schoolhouse nearby.

Tom’s commitment to quality workmanship, honest service, and investing in his people transformed Bear Valley Electric from a one-man operation into a respected electrical contractor serving communities across Western Wisconsin. In 2009, the company relocated to its current home in Menomonie’s East Industrial Park, providing room to grow and better serve its customers.

Today, Tom’s son John carries that legacy forward. While the company has grown and evolved, the values Tom established continue to guide every project, every customer relationship, and every member of the Bear Valley Electric team.
